WHO:
The Women's Art Series Connective, a newly formed group of gifted women writers, performers, visual artists, and activists, previewed its multi-disciplinary arts series,entitled "Imperfect Balance: Women Before Us, Beside Us, Among Us" with an October art exhibit and performance at Center Portion, performance poet Sheila Donohue's intimate Logan Square artist salon and gallery. The complete theatrical work will be presented March 31, /April 1 2007 in a program for Women's History Month at the Irish American Heritage Center)

WHY:
This year's theme, "Imperfect Balance", explores the power and beauty of creating art out of trauma. Countless creative women have suffered from trauma, depression or mental illness. The WASC project focuses on using artistic expression as a path to insight and growth - an avenue to empowerment - for women in history, and for women today. The programs are a vehicle to explore how art can provide a life raft in the storm, showcasing professionally wrought, strong pieces of art, and theatre. The performances and artwork created for the WASC "Imperfect Balance" project, serve as provocative examples of women who used creative expression as a positive way to process trauma.

The Program is produced by Jamie O'Reilly, J. O'Reilly Productions, in collaboration the Irish American Heritage Center.
